It is imperative that team managers accept the below declaration for club entries to be finalised and allowed to compete.

It is a condition of entry for the 2019 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships that the clubs team manager signs this form verifying that they have read and will do everything in their power to comply with this notice.

Each club is now requested to ensure the following items and conditions are implemented.

  • Each club travelling to the 2019 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships will have a team manager appointed by the club in resolution and action. It is compulsory for each clubs Team Manager to attend the Team Managers Briefing or the club will be ineligible to compete.
  • The team manager will be held responsible to the club and to SLSA for the conduct of all their team members in travelling to, during and returning home from the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.
  • Any group of two or more members travelling separate to the main body of the team shall have a sub-manager appointed by the team manager for the duration of their departure.
  • Team managers shall at all times, exercise control over their teams and ensure members conduct and appearance does not have any adverse bearing upon the good name of their club or Surf Life Saving Australia.
  • Team managers shall diligently and swiftly deal with any unsociable behavior conducted by team members.
  • Special care is to be exercised at high density congregation points, particularly air or bus terminals during the trip. Air navigation orders lay down procedures in regards to intoxication, interference with air crews, disorderly or offensive behavior and any act that threatens the safety of the aircraft. Any person contravening this order is committing an offence.
  • Before departing your accommodation point – the team manager shall conduct an inspection of the rooms accompanied by the manager of the accommodation premises and preferably a senior member of the team. It is to be confirmed that no complaints are being made or will be made re the team’s conduct or conditions of the accommodation fixtures.
  • A report shall be furnished to the club by the team manager immediately following the completion of the championships (within 14 days) and report any misconduct or complaint.
  • Team managers should be cautious of the exchange of team uniforms during or at the carnival, as miss-reporting of incidents may occur.
  • Team managers are to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their competitors during the Championships, with particular attention to ensuring no competitors are sitting on boats whilst being towed behind cars or standing on the back of 4WD trays whilst the vehicle is moving and follow the directions of any official on onsite staff in relation to safety at the Championships.
  • All team members shall abide by the rules in the Surf Sports Manual, any subsequent Bulletins & Circulars and SLSA Member Protection Policy 6.5 and other SLSA Policies.

I certify that dates of birth and membership categories of all members listed In Surfguard are correct, they have successfully completed the 2018/2019 Proficiency test as per Policy 5.4 – Proficiency and Patrol Hour Requirements, are holders of the appropriate awards and comply with the patrol hour requirements and all the conditions of entry as set out in the 2019 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships entry circular.

I further certify that all due fees are paid / will be paid when due and that all competitors entered into their respective ‘age’ events comply with the minimum age requirements as set out in the current edition of the Surf Sports manual.

I certify that I have read the entry declaration form and am fully aware of my responsibilities to my club and to SLSA.

I certify that all competitors will obey rules and codes of conduct as per the current Surf Sports Manual and any subsequent Bulletins and Circulars. Competitors will obey all directions from Officials at the 2019 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.
